Many of my friends and family members have heard or read my poetry over the years. I remember writing my first poem when I was around 8 years old. Since then, I’ve filled journals and hard drives with poems that have helped me process life’s ups and downs and express my thoughts and emotions. When I experienced hip hop music in the 1980’s, the combination of drums and poetry captured my imagination. I began creating digital content almost immediately and continued through my teens and early twenties – all while falling in love with my future wife.

For over 30 years, Andrea has been my muse and my biggest fan. She’s read nearly everything that I’ve chosen to share with anyone – and she inspires and encourages me to explore the many voices inside of my heart and my soul. Now in my 50’s, she continues to inspire me to write and create. This small collection of poems is a good place to start a new journey of sharing. Two of the poems were written at important points in our relationship, and the other two were written to celebrate an important birthday. (Liner note: this photo was taken by our friend Tony DiPietro in the winter of 1999 in New York’s Chinatown – Andrea was pregnant with Izzi and our journey was just beginning.)

I hope that everyone who listens to this collection enjoys it – most importantly, Mrs. Andrea Hart. It’s also my hope that these digital recordings will carry our love forward as positive energy, forever in the ether, never to be destroyed, but used to transform the world with love, peace and grace.

To my amazing children – listen to your mother. And as I encourage and ask you to courageously share your important voices with the world, I hope you’ll continue to motivate me to do the same. You are both incredible inspirations to me. (Liner notes: the cover art for this project was designed by Izzi with the photos taken by Caleb. They both encouraged and helped me bring this work to life for their mom. All vocal tracks were recorded in the Hartland Cabin, with a large cup of coffee and a fire in the woodstove.)
